G Suite for Education

Dartmouth College has entered into an agreement with Google to bring Google's G Suite of web applications to campus.  G Suite will be available to users in addition to our existing presence in Microsoft's Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Users are probably best familiar with G Suite through personal use of online tools such as Google Drive and Docs. By bringing a managed deployment of G Suite to campus, users will be able to easily find and collaborate with other Dartmouth students, faculty, staff.  Dartmouth users will also enjoy an advertisement-free experience, unlimited storage, and enhanced security for their data. Users can log in to Dartmouth's G-Suite at https://google.dartmouth.edu.

Dartmouth plans to enable users to access these cloud applications on January 7th. Please note that, at this time, Dartmouth's G Suite does not include GMail or Google Calendar.

If you have previously accessed any Google applications online using your @dartmouth.edu email address as your username, your pre-existing identity with Google will need to be altered when Dartmouth turns on your access to our 'official' presence in Google. Please read and view the information on the Non-managed Accounts page as soon as possible and contact your local IT support with questions.

Not all applications in G Suite meet technical requirements for storing PHI-related data. To minimize institutional risk, therefore, all Medical School users are being provisioned access only to those applications approved for PHI/PII storage.  To read more about what applications are enabled, please visit the PHI PPI Approved Apps in G-Suite page.

Google provides excellent online resources for learning more about their tools.  If you're interested in learning more, visit  the G Suite Learning Center. Whichever tool you're using, you can quickly find relevant support articles/videos and quick tips to help you be more productive!

As always, contact your IT Support staff for assistance.  Please be aware, however, that we are still learning these tools with you, and cloud tools are always evolving/changing.
