Many students often ask if Geisel can support manuscript publishing fees for accepted manuscripts. Unfortunately the answer is no - we just do not have the budget to pay for these fees (which can often run in the thousands of dollars). Students are advised to strongly consider the journal and fee, and recognize that may of the journals that publish in a pay-to-publish format are for-profit and sometimes predatory.
Prior to submitting your work to a journal that requires a publishing fee, please speak very forthrightly with your PI and/or senior author, as they will be the ultimate decider if whether or not to support funding the publishing fee.
