The NH-INBRE Career Mentoring Program

The NH-INBRE Career Mentoring Program was created by the NH-INBRE Alumni Advisory Board. One of the fundamental goals of establishing this community and program is to provide career planning and professional development for undergraduates across New Hampshire.

The NH-INBRE Career Mentoring Program has many facets. These diverse programs were designed to aid students in focusing on their career planning, developing skills needed for applying to jobs beyond undergrad, as well as providing unique networking opportunities. This program uses NH-INBRE alumni as mentors to help students achieve their long-term goals.

The goal is to have the Career Mentoring Program become part of the NH-INBRE culture, promoted alongside the professional research skills that NH-INBRE helps develop in students. We hope to continue to grow our network and develop new programs each year to make sure we can fit every student's career goals and aspirations.

The following contains quick-access materials and descriptions of the resources available to the students of NH-INBRE!  Please take advantage of all that we have to offer.

Programs Offered:

1:1 Mentoring Program:

Some of the most successful people, no matter what their profession may be, can attribute some of their accomplishments to others – mentors, advisors, counselors, etc. We are fortunate at NH-INBRE to have a large and rich pool of alumni engaged in various biomedical careers who can work as mentors with students ("mentees") in the NH-INBRE program. The NH-INBRE Alumni Board will pair mentors and mentees based on both parties' interests, education, and experience.

The mentor and mentee will work together to help develop a plan and foster a relationship to help with guiding the mentee into finding the right career path or job fit after college. Things our mentors can help with include but are not limited to: resume or CV preparation or editing, mock interviews, helping with graduate school applications, editing personal statements.

If you are interested in signing up either as a mentor or mentee please fill out the appropriate intake form below:

Medical School Mentoring Program:

The average medical school acceptance rate is 5.5%. Our program is aimed at providing resources, support, and networking opportunities to college students at NH INBRE schools to help them navigate the challenging pre-med path. Each session is hosted by current medical students who are alumni of INBRE. These 1.5-hour live Zoom sessions are dedicated to addressing a certain topic each month. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and get feedback on their application process.
