Haley Zanga

Haley Zanga

Haley Zanga graduated from Keene State College in 2018. She is a first year medical student at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine with an anticipated graduation in 2026. She hopes to specialize in dermatology. During her undergraduate education she did INBRE funded research with Dr. Jason Pellettieri. She took four years off before matriculating into medical school. She worked as a lab technician for Harvard Stem Cell Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital and then went to do research in several different biotech companies.

She is currently on the NH INBRE Alumni Advisory Board and is the Co-Founder and Program Director of the Medical School Mentoring Program.


Catrina Hood

Catrina Hood

Catrina grew up in Barre, VT and completed her undergraduate studies at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH. She graduated Summa Cum Laude, earning a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, in May 2017. After graduation, she was employed as a laboratory research technician in the Proteomics Lab for the Vermont Biomedical Research Network at UVM. She matriculated to The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont (LCOM) in August 2019. While at LCOM, Catrina has been an active member of the Pediatrics Student Interest Group while also serving as a Student Ambassador for Admissions and as Peer Tutor. She has remained involved in academic research, though has transitioned away from bench research to focus more on public health and quality improvement oriented projects. Aligned with these interests, she completed a funded summer research project with the Vermont Child Health Improvement Program (VCHIP) evaluating outcomes of opioid-exposed newborns. Now, Catrina eagerly awaits Match Day to find out where she will be completing her pediatric residency training and graduation in May 2023!


Liberty Gendron

Liberty Gendron is a second year medical student at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) Elmira, NY, Class of 2025. She graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2019 with a major in biology and minor in chemistry. She did undergraduate research with the NH-INBRE program and ISURF program at Dartmouth. She took a gap year and worked as an EMT and Emergency Department Technician while she applied to medical school in 2020. She is grateful to be helping mentor undergraduate students through their medical school journey.


Abigail Keim

Abigail Keim

Abby graduated from Endicott College, a small liberal arts college on the Northshore of Massachusetts, in 2019 with a BS in Biology and Psychology. She then joined the MD-PhD program at Geisel of School of Medicine at Dartmouth and is currently in her fourth year. Now in the graduate school phase of the program, Abby is pursuing a PhD in Dr. Aaron McKenna’s lab where she applies CRISPR technologies to study lineage dynamics in cancer.


Caitlyn McGhee

Caitlyn McGhee

Caitlyn McGhee is currently a first year medical student at St George's University. She attended New England College in New Hampshire and graduated in 2021 with a degree in Health Sciences, and a minor in Chemistry. She worked as a Clinical Nursing Assistant for 6 years, most notably in the emergency room and in the Solid Organ Transplant Unit at Boston Children's Hospital, and went on a medical service trip to Guatemala. She is very excited about this program, as she is a first generation medical student, and the first person from her high school to be accepted into medical school. She is eager to share her knowledge with other students.


Timothy Renier

Timothy Renier

Tim earned his Bachelor of Arts in 2019 from St. Olaf College, a small liberal arts college in Northfield, Minnesota. His major was in chemistry with concentrations in biomolecular science and statistics. He joined the MD-PhD program at the Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine and is currently in the graduate school portion of the program. He conducts his research in Diane Gilbert-Diamond’s lab, where he uses genomic and clinical data to address questions about causes of and interventions for obesity. At Geisel, he also serves as a student co-director of the MD-PhD Undergraduate Summer (MPUS) Fellowship.

Ashley Collins

Ashley Collins is a current second year medical student at Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her Bachelor’s of Science in Biology at Keene State College in New Hampshire in 2018. After graduating, she worked in Texas as a medical scribe in the Emergency Department and in the Cath Lab prior to starting medical school. She is currently interested in specializing in Emergency Medicine.


Ben Maines

Ben Maines

Ben is a Mainer, graduate of Colby-Sawyer College with degrees in Biology and Photography, and medical student at Stanford University, graduating class of '25. He was involved in NH-INBRE funded research at Colby-Sawyer, and at Dartmouth for two summers with the NH-INBRE Summer Research Fellowship. He spent a year doing genetics research, then taught English abroad for a year before starting medical school. Ben is doing a MS/MD dual degree in the environment, sustainability, and planetary health, is interested in pediatrics and advocacy, and spends most of his spare time outdoors.
