For her work investigating meiotic cell cycle regulation and chromosome segregation in budding yeast and mouse oogenesis, Soni Lacefield, PhD, a professor of biochemistry and cell biology at Dartmouth’s Geisel of Medicine, has received the Genetics Society of America’s Ira Herskowitz Award.

The Society of Surgical Oncology announced that Sandra L. Wong, MD, MS, FSSO, is its president-elect. Wong, a surgical oncologist, is the chair of the Department of Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and the Geisel School of Medicine.

Ellen Meara, PhD, a professor of The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, and an adjunct professor of economics at Dartmouth College, has been elected to the prestigious National Academy of Medicine.
Steven D. Leach, MD, director of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center and the Preston T. and Virginia R. Kelsey Distinguished Chair in Cancer at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Four new faculty were inducted into to the Geisel Academy of Master Educators and another honored with a lifetime achievement award. The Academy of Master Educators are a distinguished group of faculty nominated by their colleagues for their demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and medical education.
