Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM), a distinguished national leadership program for senior-level faculty, graduated its 30th class and held celebratory events commemorating its anniversary in Philadelphia.
At this year’s event, Geisel School of Medicine faculty members Anna Miller, MD, professor and chair of orthopaedics, graduated from ELAM, and Christine Finn, MD, associate professor of psychiatry, and Teresa Dean Malcolm, MD, FACOG, MBA, Dartmouth Health Vice President, Office of Impact and Belonging, graduated from the Executive Leadership in Health Care (ELH) track. Their achievements underscore Geisel’s commitment to advancing faculty and healthcare leaders in academic medicine and health system leadership
These new graduates join a distinguished group of Geisel and Dartmouth Health ELUMs, including Amber Barnato, MD, MPH; Erika T. Brown, PhD; Ilana Cass, MD; Jocelyn Chertoff, MD; Sonia Chimienti, MD; Kathleen Clem, MD; Joanne Conroy, MD; Barbara Jobst, MD; and former faculty member Sandra Wong, MD, MS, who was appointed dean of Emory School of Medicine. Carrie Colla, PhD, is a current ELH Class of 2026 fellow.
“We’re looking forward to creating many more opportunities for our alumni and supporters to gather so that we can continue to sustain each other through our leadership journeys,” said Erika T. Brown, PhD, dean of faculty affairs and professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at Geisel and associate director of ELAM.
Under the leadership of Nancy Spector, MD, executive director of ELAM and ELH, the 30th anniversary celebration featured a keynote conversation with Nobel Prize recipient Katalin Karikó, PhD, who received the ELAM Pinnacle Award and directed the $10,000 prize to establish the Breaking Through Fund. A fireside chat with Anthony Fauci, MD, and Megan Ranney, MD, MPH, dean of Yale School of Public Health, offered valuable insights into public health leadership. The event concluded with a keynote address by Lilly Marks, who shared pearls of wisdom from her leadership journey.
The event also included panel discussions on managing institutional resources and leading through adversity, with contributions from esteemed ELAM alumni. Attendees participated in optional lunchtime presentations exploring the historical contributions of women physicians and strategies for navigating leadership opportunities.
