Dartmouth President Phil Hanlon and Provost Carolyn Dever announce the appointment of Duane Compton, an accomplished medical and graduate educator, a distinguished researcher, and a seasoned leader, to be the next dean of the Geisel School of Medicine, effective immediately.
Cassie Rendon, a Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and an Oglala Lakota, chose Geisel because of ample opportunities to work with the Native American population and Indian Health Services to achieve her goal of reducing Indian health disparities.

John R. Butterly, MD, FACP, FACC, a cardiologist and a professor of medicine at Geisel School of Medicine and The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, has been elected president of the New Hampshire Medical Society.
Dr. Sandra L. Wong, the William W. Coon Professor of Surgical Oncology and Associate Chair of Clinical Affairs at the University of Michigan Health System, has been named Chair of Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and Senior Vice President of the Surgical Service Line at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Her term begins October 26.
Wesley A. Benbow, MBA, has been named Executive Dean for Administration and Finance for the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. In this role, Mr. Benbow will be responsible for the management of all of Geisel’s administrative, financial, and non-academic affairs.
Dartmouth researchers are among 37 principal investigators and their dedicated trainees to receive the American Association of Immunologists inaugural Careers in Immunology Fellowship award.
