Alison Holmes Named Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Geisel
Alison Volpe Holmes, MD, MPH, has been named the school’s new associate dean for student affairs. Holmes is an associate professor of pediatrics, medical education, and of The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice.
Nicole Borges Named Chair of the Department of Medical Education
Nicole J. Borges, PhD, a professor of neurobiology and anatomical sciences at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, has been named Chair of the Department of Medical Education at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. Borges, a health psychologist with over 20 years of experience in medical education, is recognized nationally for her scholarly approaches to student and faculty advancement.

After an extensive national search, Simon Hillier, MD, has been appointed Chair and Service Line Leader for Anesthesiology and Perioperative Services at Dartmouth-Hitchcock and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Dr. Hillier has served as interim chair since April 2017.

Michael L. Whitfield, PhD, has been named the chair of the Department of Biomedical Data Science at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. Whitfield, a professor of biomedical data science and molecular and systems biology, has served as the department’s interim chair since November 2017.
