June 4, 2015 was a big day for the Migrant Health Project at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. In seven hours, four first-year medical students and a pre-medical volunteer coordinated 12 dental cleaning and screening appointments for migrant farm workers at Barton Street Dental in Bradford, VT.
On Friday, June 5, faculty and graduating medical students were recognized for extraordinary achievements at the annual Geisel School of Medicine Awards Ceremony. Held in the Hopkins Center’s Moore Theater, the event honored excellence in academic achievement, research, community service, teaching, and much more.
The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth celebrated the accomplishments of 88 new graduates of its MD program during Class Day ceremonies on Saturday, June 6 at Dartmouth’s Leede Arena.
Lorna B. Stuart, DPhil, MD, a family physician for more than thirty years and medical director of The Clinic, is the featured speaker for Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth’s 2015 Class Day activities, Saturday, June 6 at 9 a.m. in the Class of 1978 Life Sciences Center courtyard.
Thursday evening, May 28, during the annual State of the Medical School address, several faculty and students were cited for their contributions to medical education and community service.
Wesley A. Benbow, MBA, has been named Executive Dean for Administration and Finance for the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. In this role, Mr. Benbow will be responsible for the management of all of Geisel’s administrative, financial, and non-academic affairs.
Ten students at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth have been selected as 2015-16 New Hampshire/Vermont Schweitzer Fellows by the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, named for the famous physician-humanitarian.
Second-year Geisel medical student Jose “Tito” Porras is among 68 top medical and veterinary students from 37 schools in the United States selected to conduct full-time biomedical research through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Medical Research Fellows Program.
Lin Deng, a graduate student in Biochemistry, is a recipient of the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad, which recognizes the academic accomplishments of Chinese students studying overseas.
