The CytoFLEX (Beckman Coulter) is a four laser, 15 detector analysis flow cytometer capable of measuring 13 colors simultaneously. The lasers in this instrument are Violet (405nm), Blue (488nm), Yellow-Green (561nm), and Red (638nm). The Wavelength Division Multiplexer (WDM) deconstructs and measures multiple wavelengths of light, relying on fiber optics and band pass filters to separate the light wavelengths. The WDM utilizes Avalanche photodiode detectors versus photomultiplier tubes, resulting in a high quantum efficiency in excess of 80%, especially for wavelengths greater than 800 nm. The CytoFLEX also has a high throughput 96 well plate loader.
