Four new faculty were inducted into to the Geisel Academy of Master Educators and another honored with a lifetime achievement award. The Academy of Master Educators are a distinguished group of faculty nominated by their colleagues for their demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and medical education.
Internal Medicine Clerkship Director, Hilary Ryder, MD, MS, FACP received an Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Excellence in Medical Education award for her research, “Understanding what we say: varying cultural competency amongst faculty evaluators on the internal medicine clerkship.”
Gregory Tsongalis, PhD, a professor of pathology at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine and director of the Laboratory for Clinical Genomics and Advanced Technology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Norris Cotton Cancer Center, has received the Jeffrey A. Kant Leadership Award from the Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP).
Geisel Professor Rahul Sarpeshkar, PhD is one of three Dartmouth faculty being honored as 2018 Fellows of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the world’s leading professional association for advancing technology for humanity.
William Wickner, MD, a professor of biochemistry and cell biology, recently received the William C. Rose Award from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Louise Davies, MD, MS, an associate professor of surgery and of The Dartmouth Institute, is one of two Dartmouth faculty to have been named Fulbright Scholars for the 2017-2018 academic year, enabling their planned teaching and research activities abroad.
Mark Creager, MD, has been named the Anna Gundlach Huber Professor in Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Creager, a Professor of Medicine and Surgery at Geisel since 2015, also directs the Heart and Vascular Center within the Dartmouth-Hitchcock health system.
On Monday, May 23, seven Geisel faculty members were honored for their contributions to medical education as Interim Dean Duane Compton inducted them into the Geisel Academy of Master Educators.
Paula Schnurr, PhD, a Research Professor of Psychiatry at Geisel and Executive Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, was presented with the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies Lifetime Achievement Award at the organization’s annual meeting in New Orleans in November.
