Dean’s Office Welcomes New Staff

Please join us in welcoming two new team members to the Geisel School of Medicine Dean’s Office staff. Kimberly Valcin has joined Geisel as the strategic plan project manager, and Evan Vickers is the new associate director in the Office of Faculty Affairs.

Kimberly ValcinIn her new role at Geisel, Kimberly Valcin, MPH, is providing project management and monitoring support for the implementation of the school’s Strategic Plan and other Dean’s office initiatives.  A native of New York City, she recently moved to New England after living in Durham, North Carolina for 5 years. Kimberly has experience planning, overseeing, implementing, and evaluating projects that identify and solve problems. She has conducted public health interventions in diverse countries including Suriname, Malawi, and Mozambique and has previously managed projects for UNC Healthcare. Kimberly has a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Sociomedical Sciences from Columbia University and a bachelors of science in Biology from Oakwood University.

As a first generation Haitian-American, Kimberly is an advocate for health as a human right, joy at work, and gender justice. She spends most of her time at home or hiking trails with her wife, Whitney, and their dog Riley. They also have two cats named Salem and Athena. Outside of work her hobbies include cooking, in-door gardening, and singing loudly.

Evan VickersIn his new role, Evan Vickers, MPA, will oversee the operating and administrative functions for the Office of Faculty Affairs. He comes to the Dean’s Office from the Dept. of Epidemiology, where he was an academic asst.

Evan holds a master’s degree in Public Administration and has been supporting research and faculty within Geisel since joining the Dartmouth College community in 2019. Though growing up in Kentucky, he enjoys the climate of New England and appreciates the quick access to bodies of water and beautiful hiking opportunities that the region provides. On the weekends, Evan can be found exploring the outdoors or taste testing local restaurants with his partner and their two dogs.

“We are really pleased to have Kim and Evan join our team,” says Nick Ryan, chief of staff in the Geisel Dean’s Office. “They both bring fantastic experience to our office and their skills will be invaluable in furthering our goals to successfully implement our strategic plan and continue to provide the best service to our faculty.”
