Amanda Bassett named Director of Alumni Relations

Amanda Bassett has been named Director of Alumni Relations for the Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Bassett succeeds Julie Bressor, who has transitioned to the position of Regional Director of Development for Geisel. As Director of Alumni Relations, Bassett will develop and implement strategies to strengthen the engagement of Geisel alumni and the resident and fellow alumni of Dartmouth-Hitchcock and will collaborate with colleagues across Dartmouth on alumni engagement initiatives.

Bassett comes to Geisel from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, where she currently leads the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations and the Office for Community Faculty. In these roles she has strengthened and expanded engagement across an alumni constituency that includes both MDs and a number of allied health professions. Bassett also serves as Alumni Relations Chair for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

Bassett joined the University of New Mexico in 2013, having previously worked in development for the School of Medicine under the auspices of the University of New Mexico Foundation and for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. She is a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University and earned an MBA from the University of New Mexico.

“In addition to her experience in an academic medical setting, Amanda’s collaborative style and her ability to forge relationships across departments and schools impressed those who met with her during the interview process,” says Kate Villars, Executive Director of Engagement and Communications for the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at Geisel and Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Bassett will start her new role on December 9, 2019.
