Three rising third-year Geisel medical students have received a distinguished national public health award for their efforts over the past two years to improve both awareness of and access to health care for migrant farm workers in the Upper Valley.

Bright and Shiny MOLAARS: Dental Cleanings and Screenings for Migrant Farm Workers
June 4, 2015 was a big day for the Migrant Health Project at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. In seven hours, four first-year medical students and a pre-medical volunteer coordinated 12 dental cleaning and screening appointments for migrant farm workers at Barton Street Dental in Bradford, VT.

One day, while Michaela Staley (’17) and other volunteers with a local nonprofit organization were out in the Arizona desert providing food and water for undocumented immigrants crossing the border, something unusual happened.
