Tor D. Tosteson, Sc.D., a professor of community and family medicine (Biostatistics) and of The Dartmouth Institute of Health Policy and Clinical Practice at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, has been selected as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA), the world’s largest community of statisticians and the second-oldest continuously operating professional society in the United States. He will be inducted at the August 2014 Joint Statistical Meeting in Boston, Mass., which will celebrate the founding of the ASA in Boston 175 years ago.
Tosteson, who is director of Biostatistics Shared Resource at the Norris Cotton Cancer and the Biostatistics Consulting Core of the Dartmouth Clinical and Translational Institute, is being recognized for exceptional contributions to statistical methodology, especially for measurement errors in generalized linear models; for advancing education in quantitative methods for biomedical sciences; and for collaborating and enhancing translational studies in numerous areas of medicine.

Dr. Tosteson received his doctorate in Biostatistics from Harvard University. His current research interests revolve around challenging methodological and statistical problems in clinical, translational, and comparative effectiveness research programs in cancer and musculoskeletal disease.
