For the second consecutive year, a team from the Quantitative Biomedical Sciences (QBS) program at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine has finished in the top five (out of 30 teams) at the National Big Data Health Science Student Case Competition.

QBS Program Celebrates First Master of Science Graduating Class
As the Dartmouth community holds its various Class Day ceremonies virtually this year, one highlight amongst the celebrations will be the graduation of the first Master of Science (MS) degree class of the Graduate Program in Quantitative Biomedical Sciences (QBS) with 20 graduates. The QBS program trains highly qualified students in bioinformatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, health data science, and medical informatics for careers in academia and industry.
Geisel’s Quantitative Biomedical Sciences Program Graduates First 4+1 Student
Despina Karalis D ’18, Guarini ’19 is the first “4+1 student” to receive a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the Quantitative Biomedical Sciences (QBS) program. The 4+1 option, available to Dartmouth undergraduates, allows students to enroll in a maximum of three graduate level courses that count toward either the QBS Masters in Epidemiology or Health Data Science—to be completed in one year following their graduation from Dartmouth College.
Geisel Receives $12.5 Million NIH COBRE Grant to Establish Center for Quantitative Biology
Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine has been awarded a 5-year, $12.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to establish a Center for Quantitative Biology that will bring together and enhance initiatives in computational biology, bioinformatics, and experimental genomics across Dartmouth.
Geisel Announces New Master of Science Degree in Quantitative Epidemiology
Geisel’s Quantitative Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program is offering a new Master of Science in Epidemiology degree that will train students in bioinformatics, biostatistics, and epidemiology.
$2.5 million Burroughs Wellcome Fund Grant Promotes Cross-Discipline Communication
A grant from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund will help facilitate stronger collaborations between computational scientists and biomedical researchers in order to maximize the potential of big data to improve human health.
