On August 19, Geisel School of Medicine students in the MD Class of 2026 marked a rite of passage in the field of medicine when they received their short white coats, symbolic of their status as physicians in training, during the medical school’s annual White Coat ceremony.

The White Coat Ceremony for the Geisel Class of 2026 will be held on Friday, August 19 in Alumni Hall at the Hopkins Center. The program begins at 3:00 PM. This is a ticketed event but you can watch our live broadcast of the event here.
Geisel School of Medicine Welcomes New Medical and Public Health Students
This week 92 first-year medical students at Geisel School of Medicine and 88 students in the medical school’s Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Science (MS) hybrid and residential programs at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, spent time getting to know each other during separate orientation sessions before immersing themselves in their medical education.
