Three Geisel Students Receive Prestigious Public Health Service Award

Given to medical students in recognition of their commitment to helping address public health issues in their community,the nationally competitive U.S. Public Health Service Excellence in Public Health Award rewards visionary medical students who are advancing initiatives to improve social justice. Second-year Geisel students Sarah Kovan ’22, Sam Tsai ’22, and Isabelle Yang ’22, are this year’s recipients of theprestigious award.

PEMM Student Arielle Baker Receives Prestigious National Fellowship

Arielle Baker, Guarini ‘19, a PhD candidate in the neuroscience track of the Program in Experimental and Molecular Medicine (PEMM), has received a Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship. She will be working with the Committee on Women at the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) to advocate for the participation and retention of women in these disciplines.

Ambrose Cheung Receives National Scholar-Innovator Award

Dartmouth researcher Ambrose Cheung, MD, has received a 2017 Harrington Scholar-Innovator Award, one of only a few given annually to top physician-scientists in the U.S. The award will support Cheung’s promising research to develop a vaccine or drug to combat MRSA—virulent staph bacteria causing infections that are increasingly resistant to antibiotics.
