Read article - Quotes Steven Fiering, professor of microbiology and immunology, in an article about the efficacy of certain COVID-19 vaccines developed in China, India, Russia, and the U.K. The article notes that some data for the vaccines are confusing, unpublished, or nonexistent and that scientists' reactions to their authorization are mixed. "This is an emergency situation," said Fiering. "So you can make the argument about the damage of waiting, or you could make the argument that it could be a disaster because you are putting this into a lot of people's arms without having adequate data. But we don't even have long-term data on the vaccines we've authorized either, so we're cutting that corner. Different countries make different decisions based on their resources."
