Dr. Freddie Fu: “20 Thoughts for Young Doctors”

When medical students don the white coat for the first time, they take an emotional step forward on their journey into medicine. On September 28th, 2013, the Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine first-year class gathered with faculty, family, and friends for the school's annual White Coat ceremony.

Freddie Fu, MD ('75), shared his "20 Thoughts for Young Doctors" in his keynote speech to students. Fu, chair of orthopaedics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, is a leader in medical education, research, and patient care. He is renowned both for his pioneering knee surgical innovations and his work to keep athletes healthy and performing, from ballerinas to cyclists to NFL receivers.
