I am pleased to announce the appointment of Erika T. Brown, PhD, as Geisel’s new Dean of Faculty Affairs, effective December 13. Dr. Brown, who currently serves as the Sr. Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, is a nationally recognized leader in faculty development with nearly 10 years of experience in faculty affairs and professional development and 20 years in academic medicine. Standing Together with Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Women in Our Community

We want to echo President Hanlon’s statement condemning the violence in the Atlanta area, which left eight people dead, including seven women, six of whom were of Asian descent. While this tragic event is still being investigated, we do know that throughout the pandemic, there has been a significant increase in violence and racism against Asians and the Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in the United States. We must also recognize that violence against women is a serious ongoing problem in this country.
