Introducing the Department of Radiation Oncology and Applied Sciences

We are pleased to announce that the Dartmouth Health Board of Trustees and Dartmouth Board of Trustees have formally elevated Radiation Oncology from a section within the Department of Medicine to full department status. The new department, which will be known as the Department of Radiation Oncology and Applied Sciences, will be under the leadership of Inaugural Chair Charles R. Thomas, Jr., MD.

Geisel Receives Prestigious Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award

I wanted to share the good news that Geisel has received the 2023 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine for our ongoing commitment to building a more inclusive and belonging community. I’m exceptionally proud of Lisa McBride, our Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, and her staff in the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement for everything they do to support our students, and our entire community for embracing the importance of diversity in our research and education programs.

Nathan Goldstein, MD, Named Chair, Department of Medicine

We are pleased to announce that following a national search, Nathan Goldstein, MD, has accepted the role as our next Chair of the Department of Medicine at Dartmouth Health and Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. He will begin work in March 2024, assuming the role previously held by Richard “Rich” Rothstein, MD. He will also hold the Joseph M. Huber Professorship of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine.

New Senior Associate Dean of Foundational Research

I am excited to share the news that Susan B. Roberts, PhD, has been appointed as the Senior Associate Dean of Foundational Research at the Geisel School of Medicine. She brings more than 30 years of experience developing innovative research programs in the field of nutrition and behavior to advance health in the U.S. and abroad.
