Tragic Loss of a MHCDS Student

Dear Colleagues,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Richard Ellison, MD, a member of the Class of '23 in the Master of Health Care Delivery Science (MHCDS) Program at Geisel and Tuck, has died. Richard was in Hanover for the residential portion of the MHCDS program when he passed away Thursday evening.

A resident of Luxemburg, Wisconsin, Richard was an Army-trained surgeon who enjoyed serving others. After retiring from the Army in 2015, Richard served as a traveling physician, providing temporary coverage for other surgeons at multiple hospitals across the U.S.

As we mourn the loss of this valued friend and colleague, our thoughts are with Richard’s family at this most difficult time.

We urge students, faculty, and staff who would like to speak to a counselor on their own behalf or out of concern for someone else to go to Dick’s House or contact Safety and Security at (603) 646-4000 at any hour. Faculty and staff will also find additional support available through the Faculty/Employee Assistance Program. Please do not hesitate to seek help during this time of grief.

Sincerely,

Duane and Matt
