On Wednesday, October 15, more than 200 people from Dartmouth and beyond gathered at Dartmouth College to consider the life and work of C. Everett Koop, MD, ScD, D ’37, the 13th Surgeon General of the United States, a pioneer in pediatric surgery, and a storied advocate for the health of the public.
Lila May Walkden Flounders’ support of the Koop Institute was inspired by Dr. C. Everett Koop’s willingness to take on big challenges and confront powerful interests as Surgeon General in the 1980s.
Joseph O’Donnell, MD, a professor of medicine and of psychiatry and the senior advising dean, has been appointed to the Elizabeth DeCamp McInerny Professorship at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
