Read article – Quotes Jennifer Emond, assistant professor of biomedical data science and of pediatrics, in an article about a new study that found that parents may allow kids to eat too much sugary breakfast cereal because the suggested serving size is smaller than they realize. “When you compute the amount of sugar by weight of the cereal, the sugar content is quite high and higher than federal recommendations,” says Emond, who wasn’t involved in the study.

Read article – Dartmouth’s Center for Technology and Behavioral Health will receive over $700,000 in funding from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to support research that tests new ways to treat and control type-1 diabetes. The five-year study, led by Catherine Stanger, associate professor at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, will use digital tools focused on creating behavioral changes to help young people with diabetes follow a complicated medical regimen and achieve better health outcomes. “We will reach out directly to young adults with type-1 diabetes to support them in learning to better manage this complex and challenging condition,” said Stanger.
