Two Geisel School of Medicine faculty recognized by the Association of University Radiologists

Hanover, N.H.—The Association of University Radiologists (AUR) has named Jocelyn Chertoff, MD, President of the association and acknowledged Petra Lewis, MBBS, for teaching excellence.

Chertoff is assistant dean for clinical affairs at Geisel School of Medicine and professor of radiology and of obstetrics and gynecology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. She is active in numerous institutional and national radiology organizations and in 2012 received the Association of Clinician Educators in Radiology Achievement Award.

"AUR is a complex organization with relationships to many other organizations," Chertoff says. "My primary goals for the next year are to work towards strengthening these relationships, and to improve the ability of the organization to respond quickly and collaboratively to the challenges of the healthcare environment."

Lewis, professor of radiology and professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Geisel, received the organization's Outstanding Teacher Award. Each year, the Alliance of Medical Student Educators in Radiology (AMSER)--a section of AUR--honors an educator whom they feel has contributed the most to radiology education.

"Educating and mentoring medical students has been the focus and the most intellectually and personally satisfying area of my radiological academic career since residency," Lewis says. "I am greatly honored by receiving this award from them, and I would like to recognize and thank the many individuals--faculty, students and family--who helped me obtain it."

With more than 3,000 academic radiologist, residents and fellows, AUR is committed to advancing the interests of academic radiology and advancing radiological science, research and education.
