Dartmouth-Hitchcock Physicians Cited As Top Doctors in New Hampshire
Dartmouth-Hitchcock breast surgeon Kari Rosenkranz, MD, is one of 49 doctors with D-H connections listed as New Hampshire's 'top doctors.'
Lebanon, NH—Forty-nine Dartmouth-Hitchcock physicians, in 36 different specialties, were recently named to New Hampshire Magazine's list of the leading physicians in New Hampshire, in the magazine's April edition, on newsstands now.
Earlier this year, New Hampshire Magazine distributed surveys to every physician licensed to practice in New Hampshire, asking them to nominate specialists in 45 different categories that they would recommend to friends and family for treatment. The surveys were then compiled and the top vote getters named as the top doctors and leading physicians in their respective specialties.
The 2011 edition of "Top Doctors" also features a Q&A with three of Dartmouth-Hitchcock's physicians. Breast surgeon Kari M. Rosenkranz, MD, featured on the issue's cover, says that "breast surgery is a good match for my interests and my personality. The surgical side appeals to my desire to 'fix' things. But unlike some specialties where the 'fix' is short term, breast surgery lends itself to long-term relationships with patients and allows me to be an advocate for women and women's health care." She adds, "I am honored and flattered to not only be ranked by New Hampshire Magazine among the top doctors in the state, but also to appear on the cover of the April issue. I feel especially grateful to work with so many outstanding physicians at DHMC and around the state."
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Manchester colorectal surgeon Jeffrey Harnsberger, MD, cites a number of most-rewarding aspects of his work. "I think the greatest reward, however, is simply the privilege of having patients place their faith, trust, and confidence in me as a surgeon, for treatment of diseases that are life-altering or life-threatening."
And despite the growing complexity and technological capability of medicine, DHMC head and neck surgeon Joseph A. Paydarfar, MD, says the best medicine is often found outside the hospital or the doctor's office. "As individuals, we all possess the ability, to a certain degree, to shape our health," Paydarfar tells the magazine. "Quit smoking, exercise, eat better, lose weight, reduce stress. None of these treatments is easy, and none of them are sexy. However, they are simple, inexpensive, and have no side effects; and in many cases will go an incredibly long way to keeping us healthy and happy."
