Below is a compilation of funding sources for the graduate school years. This list is by no means exhaustive. Another good place to start looking for funding sources is the Community of Science Funding Opportunities website where you can search for monies by discipline, type, citizenship and much more.
Two categories of possible funding sources for MD-PhD students are listed below: private, non-federal sources and federal sources. You are encouraged to ensure funding policies are followed and to apply for funding appropriate for your scientific discipline.
- LIST I (private, non-federal funds) is for students who are ineligible for federal grants (i.e. international students) and are unable to apply for an F30 or F31 but who wish to have additional support during their PhD training years.
- LIST II (federal sources) is for students who are eligible for federal funding AND whose departments offer the option of applying for F30 or F31 during their graduate training.
