Janet Corrigan Named Distinguished Fellow
The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice
Hanover, NH—The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice has named a national leader in health care, Janet Corrigan, PhD, MBA, as a Distinguished Fellow.
"I am thrilled to have Janet joining us at Dartmouth," said Elliott Fisher, Director of The Dartmouth Institute. "She has demonstrated extraordinary national leadership in her recent roles in Washington -- and I look forward to working together to improve health care both here and nationally."
Dr. Corrigan brings valuable expertise to The Dartmouth Institute and a track record of extraordinary leadership. Most recently, she served as president and CEO of the National Quality Forum, the national standard-setting body for performance measures. Prior to that, she was senior board director for Health Care Services at the Institute of Medicine where she was responsible for the Quality of Care in American Initiative, which released the landmark reports, To Err is Human and Crossing the Quality Chasm. Janet was also executive director of the 2008 President's Advisory Commission on Consumer Protection and Quality, which released the Patient Bill of Rights.
"Janet's wealth of leadership and experience will be invaluable to our efforts to improve our healthcare system," said Wiley "Chip" Souba, Dean of Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine.
Dr. Corrigan will work with The Dartmouth Institute to develop regional models of health system stewardship and sustainable financing approaches aimed at improving population health and lowering health care costs. Through its flagship initiative ReThink Health, the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation is providing support for the work.
In addition, Janet will serve as strategic advisor to The Dartmouth Institute leadership on applied research and educational initiatives related to Accountable Care Organizations, health care financing, performance measurement and public reporting.
She earned her PhD in Health Services Organization and Policy and Master's degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan, and Master's in Community Health and Business Administration from the University of Rochester.
