2003-2004 Rolf C. Syvertsen Fellow Selected

Hanover, NH - Dartmouth Medical School student Stanley J. Weinberger has been named the Rolf C. Syvertsen Fellow for the current academic year. Fellows are selected annually from among fourth year medical students chosen as Rolf C. Syvertsen Scholars for their academic achievement, leadership qualities, personal attributes and community involvement.

This year's scholars are: Danielle Adams, Joren Keylock, Fremonta Meyer, Symeon Missios and Sarah Pitts.

Weinberger, a 1998 Dartmouth College graduate, is enrolled in the Center for Evaluative and Clinical Sciences studying public health and will earn a master's in systems analysis and health economics. As a DMS Schweitzer Fellow he organized a focus group of local community members and created the Upper Valley Community Health Guide. He was also a member and coordinator of the Diverse Elderly Council "Since being at Dartmouth, the small, tight knit community has given me the support and courage to explore ideas that I might not have elsewhere," he said.

Selection is shared by two committees, consisting, respectively, of Dartmouth Medical School faculty and alumni members who were colleagues or students of Syvertsen, dean of the medical school from 1945-60 or who were former Syvertsen Fellows. The six students recently were honored at the Rolf C. Syversten Scholars Dinner
