Messages from Friends: A Response to Our National Tragedy

Dear Dr Baldwin,

We, here in Belgium, are all horrified by what happened in New York and DC this tuesday. There are no word that could qualify such an act of barbarism...

I hope that you had no friends or relatives that perished or were injuried in this dramatic event.

Should you need any help, of any kind, please ask me. I could even come over if necessary.

I am fully with the american people during these days of tragedy and mourning.

With all my friendship and support.

Philippe

We want to share this letter with you from one of our collegues at the University of Prishtina in Kosova. Dartmouth Medical School has been working with the University of Prishtina School of Medicine to assist them to re-establish their medical education programs.

This is a letter to our project from Dr. Gashi-Luci, who spent 2 months with us at Darmouth last spring. Her letter serves as a reminder and thanks to all the people in the Upper Valley who responded when tragedy befell the muslim people of Kosovo.

Dear Friends,

I'm writing to share my grief and pain with you about the terrible event which has occured in the United States the other day. As heard as it is I feel your pain and it is a great loss not only to your country but for all humanity. What is needed now is strength to go on and show to the world that you can overcome what has happened.

Yesterday in a lot of cities of Kosova people were out in the streets showing their support to the country that has once done the most for them. Candles were lit, adults together with children were holding flowers in their hands together with American flags.
