Sandeep Vellanki, PhD
About Me
Sandeep holds a Master’s and PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from The University of Texas at San Antonio. His doctoral research in Dr. Soo Chan Lee’s lab focused on acquired resistance to calcineurin inhibitors in Mucorales and host-pathogen interactions in mucormycosis.
As a former CFF postdoctoral fellow in the Cramer lab, he studied Aspergillus fumigatus adaptation to cystic fibrosis-relevant conditions. Currently, Sandeep studies the epigenetic mechanisms underlying A. fumigatus in vivo disease progression and development of antifungal tolerance. When not having fun with fungi, he enjoys a mix of the gym, outdoors, and salsa.
