MCB alumna

About Me

Born and raised in the state of Maine, I chose to embrace my roots and my state’s rural offerings while I pursued a dual degree in Biology and Psychology from the University of Maine at Farmington. Prior to graduating, I got my first real taste of science as a Maine INBRE Summer Research Fellow in 2014 at the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory in Salisbury Cove, ME. Following graduation from UMF, though I love nothing more than the Ohio State Buckeyes football team, I did the unthinkable and joined up with their arch nemesis, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, as an NIH Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) Fellow. During a year in Dr. Gary Huffnagle’s lab, I worked on developing a mouse model to be used for studying allergic disease development as a result of microbiome dysbiosis. It was during this time that my interest in the immune response was sparked and I made the decision to pursue my Ph.D. in the MCB program at Dartmouth. I joined the Huang lab in the spring of 2017 and am currently examining the relationships between CD4 and CD8 T cells in addition to identifying their mechanisms of interaction in the context of infection.  In my spare time you can find me aspiring to epitomize the Mary Berry lifestyle through stress baking (as seen on the Great British Bake Off), attempting to figure out how to grow a successful garden with just clay pots and Pinterest-inspired dreams, and playing on the infamous MCB Softball Team, Upper Valley Granola.
