WELCOME TO NEUROLOGY

INTRO
I would like to welcome you to the Neurology Clinical Clerkship. If you haven't received your rotation assignment, please contact Joan Sargent. What is expected from you is outlined below.

We want to provide an in-depth exposure to neurology for you. Due to the nature of the Neurology Clinical Clerkship, disparate student experience is GUARANTEED from one venue to the next. Not only is this responsibility-dependent (i.e., Ward vs. Consultation vs. VAH vs other) but it is also preceptor-dependent (some students go one-on-one with their preceptor, others have four different preceptors.) In this sense, you make of the clerkship what you contribute to it, including pursuing outside reading that is not case-related (Gilroy, Harrison's).

EXPECTATIONS
All students rotating through Adult and Pediatric Neurology are expected to:

1. Attend rounds, clinics, and conferences appropriate to setting of clerkship.

2. Demonstrate proficiency in taking neurologic histories, performing neurologic examinations, assessing neurologic problems and formulating appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic programs for the case in question. The Neurology Resident(s) and/or Attending(s) with whom you are in closest contact during your rotation will assess your progress.

3. Complete an oral "case study" exam given at the end of the clerkship.

4. Return the course evaluation form to Joan Sargent. This must be completed at the end of your rotation in order for you to receive a grade. Failure to submit it will result in an Incomplete on your transcript until it is received.

5. Return "case cards" showing experience in neurology.

GRADING POLICY
Grades will be based on Attending and supervising Residents' evaluation and, to a lesser extent (approximately 10%) on final exam grade.
Grades will be reported within three weeks of the end of the clerkship or the reason for tardiness will be forwarded to the Registrar.
