I came to Dartmouth Medical School and DHMC in 1981, to establish a new Section of Clinical Pharmacology at the Medical Center, and to create a new course in Advanced Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics for the new fourth year of the curriculum. I've enjoyed teaching basic and clinical pharmacology to all of the medical students since 1981! I'm now semi-retired, seeing patients at DHMC part time, and teaching Geisel students part time (PBL, clinical pharmacology, and coaching). It has been a really pleasure working with about 3500 Geisel students over the past 42 years!

Since partially retiring a few years ago, I have really enjoyed spending more time skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, playing tennis, and playing cello in several music ensembles. I also volunteer as an internist at the Good Neighbor Health Clinic in White River Junction, and serve as their medical director.

As a Pulmonary and Critical Care physician, I practice in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. I have an outpatient pulmonary practice several days per week at DHMC as well as a few days per month at Copley Hospital in Northern Vermont assisting a community with limited access to specialty medical care. I also work with inpatients as part of the Pulmonary Consult service. In my role as an intensivist, I attend in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. From an academic standpoint, I am the Director of Critical Care Education for Geisel, serve as a small group leader in the M1 Respiratory course, and have an active role in our Pulmonary/Critical Care and IM/EM/Critical Care Fellowship programs.
Personal Interests/Hobbies
My wife is also a physician at Dartmouth and we have 2 daughters. We moved to the Upper Valley in January 2021 after spending many years in urban environments due to our desire to be able to walk out our door and into the woods. I love to alpine ski and am looking forward to getting more into both touring and nordic skiing. Gravel cycling is a fast growing passion - you can't beat riding around the UV with its beautiful vistas and paucity of automobiles!
