Professionalism Committees

Professionalism is a cornerstone of learning and leadership at Geisel. Across all programs—MD, MPH, and MS—students are expected to demonstrate integrity, respect, accountability, and ethical behavior in academic, clinical, research, and community settings. Upholding these standards supports a positive, inclusive, and collaborative environment where all members of the Geisel community can learn, grow, and succeed.

The Office of Student Life manages and supports professionalism initiatives across Geisel. Community members with questions or seeking guidance are encouraged to contact them for support and resources.

The Professional Standards and Conduct Board (PSCB) at Geisel School of Medicine upholds the academic and professional integrity of our medical students. The PSCB ensures that students meet the School’s Standards for Capacity, Academic Standards, and Honor Code by reviewing reports of alleged violations and guiding students through a fair, structured process. The Board promotes formative professional development while addressing misconduct in a tiered manner, with consequences ranging from remediation to suspension or separation in serious cases. PSCB members include faculty, students, and community members trained to support a respectful, transparent, and equitable process for maintaining a culture of professionalism across the Geisel community.

The Health Sciences Integrity Board (HSIB) at Geisel School of Medicine is a faculty and staff panel dedicated to upholding academic and professional integrity within our master’s programs. The board reviews cases of alleged student misconduct, helping to ensure a supportive and enriching learning environment. Serving on the HSIB is a low-demand, impactful way to contribute to the community, with appointments lasting one year and renewable indefinitely. Panel members receive annual training and bring a diversity of perspectives from across Geisel’s educational programs, strengthening the integrity and fairness of the review process.
