Curriculum committees at Geisel play a vital role in ensuring that all educational programs—MD, MPH, and MS—deliver high-quality, rigorous, and engaging learning experiences. These committees oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of their respective curricula, ensuring that students acquire the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies needed to succeed in their fields.
The Medical Education Committee (MEC) oversees the MD program curriculum, ensuring that it trains future physicians to be knowledgeable, clinically skilled, professional, compassionate, and effective communicators. The MEC determines what is taught, learned, and assessed across all major competency areas, defines graduation requirements, and continuously reviews and revises the goals, objectives, structure, and content of the undergraduate medical curriculum. Voting members include faculty elected by the Geisel Faculty Council and students elected by the student body. MEC meetings are held monthly.
