Poder en Comunidad: Power in Community
Formerly known as the Geisel Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, the Geisel Latine Caribbean Heritage Month* is a time to celebrate, recognize and acknowledge the history, culture and ongoing contributions of the students, staff and faculty that identify with the Latinx/e and Caribbean communities. This celebration provides space for cultures, histories, and people ranging from nations within North America, Central America, The Caribbean, and South America to build community, highlight their practices, and honor the past while shaping future opportunities. It is also a space to share insights on different journeys into the medical profession and voicing health matters that impact the Latine and Caribbean communities. Geisel’s Latine Caribbean Heritage Month coincides with the U.S. National Hispanic Heritage Month as a period to commemorate and celebrate the independence of various Latin American countries in late September and early October.
