David Pastel, MD, Named Interim Chair, Department of Radiology

We are pleased to announce that David Pastel, MD, has been named the Interim Chair of the Department of Radiology. He will assume the role that was previously held by Jocelyn Chertoff who is retiring on December 15.

Dr. Pastel came to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in 2006. He completed a residency in Radiology during which he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in Neuroradiology. He then joined the DHMC Radiology service as a staff physician and Geisel as an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Neurology.

Dr. Pastel’s clinical and educational leadership in Radiology has grown significantly over the past decade. He currently serves as the Director, Division of Neuroradiology and as Associate Professor of Radiology and Neurology at Geisel. He has previously overseen the Radiology Residency Program, the Neuroradiology Fellowship Program and served as the Director of Neuroradiology Education. His wide-ranging experience in the department makes him uniquely qualified to step into this position.

David received his medical degree from VCU School of Medicine (Medical College of Virginia), Richmond VA and graduated cum laude from Bowdoin College.

Please join us in wishing David well as he takes on this expanded leadership role. We also offer our best wishes and sincere thanks to Jocelyn for her many years of dedicated service to our patients, students and trainees.
