New Senior Associate Dean of Foundational Research

I am excited to share the news that Susan B. Roberts, PhD, has been appointed as the Senior Associate Dean of Foundational Research at the Geisel School of Medicine. She brings more than 30 years of experience developing innovative research programs in the field of nutrition and behavior to advance health in the U.S. and abroad.

Dr. Roberts joins us from Tufts University, where she was a senior scientist in the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging. At Tufts, she also served as a professor of nutrition at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, co-director of the Tufts Institute for Global Obesity Research, and adjunct professor of psychiatry and scientific staff member in pediatrics at Tufts School of Medicine.

During her tenure at Tufts, Dr. Roberts directed the Energy Metabolism Laboratory, pioneering interventions that combined advanced nutrition and behavioral science to promote healthy eating and successful weight management. Her work extended beyond national borders, as she conducted nutrition research in numerous countries and developed groundbreaking food formulations aimed at improving cognitive function in both young children and older adults.

Dr. Roberts' research endeavors have been consistently supported by funding organizations such as the NIH, DoD, and USDA. She has authored over 300 publications, co-authored books on children's nutrition and weight loss, and holds two patents.
