Refreshed and Expanded: The Principles of Trustworthiness Toolkit

The Principles of Trustworthiness
A new, expanded toolkit takes you step by step towards trustworthiness

The AAMC Center for Health Justice has refreshed its Principles of Trustworthiness Toolkit — a free, community-centered and -codeveloped resource to help institutions earn trust by demonstrating they are worthy of it. Developed in partnership with researchers and communities across the U.S., the toolkit is grounded in the 10 Principles of Trustworthiness, which guide organizations from good intentions to real accountability.

Designed for health systems, academic institutions, and community partners, the toolkit offers a structured but flexible approach to build authentic relationships, reflect on institutional behaviors, and take action with humility and intention.

What makes this toolkit unique is its community-centered origins, its scalability, and its adaptability. It can be applied in any community or sector, allowing institutions to implement actions that are grounded in local realities. You'll find resources to take you each step of the way through the process.

“This wasn’t about whether communities trusted us—it was about whether we were acting in a way that deserved trust.”
— Community Representative, Sacramento, California
