Monthly Update, March 2023

This year’s Women’s History Month theme, “Embrace Equity,” has enabled us to recognize and celebrate women everywhere. At the same time, we acknowledge the disparities women continue to face, particularly women of color. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “the likelihood of death from pregnancy-related causes among birthing people who identify as Black, American Indian, or Alaska Native is two to three times higher compared to their White counterparts.” As we continue working toward improving the health of people everywhere, the AAMC’s Center for Health Justice invites you to register for the Maternal Health Equity Workshop: From Story to Data to Action, a virtual workshop that will explore AI tools like natural language processing for improving qualitative maternal health equity data. For more information on the workshop, and to learn more about the Center for Health Justice’s maternal health equity initiative, please visit our website.
