Austin Menger, PhD

Dr. Menger is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Biostatistics at Dartmouth, working with Drs. James O'Malley and Paul Barr through a joint affiliation with the Dartmouth Institute and Geisel School of Medicine. He earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Connecticut, an M.S. in Applied Analytics from Columbia University, and a B.S. (with honors) in Mathematics from Georgetown University.
Prior to joining Dartmouth, Dr. Menger founded and led an analytics company in New York City for three years, collaborating with over 40 researchers and contributing to publications across statistics, mental health, spine surgery, neurosurgery, colorectal surgery, and pediatric oncology among others.
His research focuses on survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, Bayesian methods, psychometrics, and machine learning, with an emphasis on clinical and healthcare applications. He has received multiple awards for teaching, research, and service, and is the founder of the New England Statistical Society’s NextGen Scholarship, which supports underrepresented students in data science and is now in its fifth year.
Dr. Menger lives in West Lebanon with his wife and two young sons. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, writing, spending time with neighbors, and watching more Paw Patrol than he ever expected.
