Postdoc Fellowship

Guarini Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowship in Climate Resilience, Health Systems, and Quantitative Modeling

Dartmouth College invites applications for the Guarini Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowship jointly hosted by The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy & Clinical Practice (TDI), The Irving Institute for Energy & Society, and Dartmouth Cancer Center / Department of Radiation Oncology. This fellowship supports early-career scholars whose work advances climate resilience, health-system preparedness, operations modeling, and quantitative approaches to energy–health intersections. The PROF Program aims to expand the pipeline to the professoriate by preparing early-career scholars for long-term success in academia. Fellows join a multidisciplinary cohort committed to increasing inclusive access in their disciplines and in higher education through research, teaching, and community engagement.

The fellow will contribute to Dartmouth’s institutional priorities in Cold Climate Resilience (President Beilock) and interdisciplinary climate-health initiatives across TDI, Geisel, and the Irving Institute. Fellows will be expected to contribute their quantitative expertise toward developing modeling, optimization, or analytical approaches that strengthen climate–health resilience and health-system preparedness at Dartmouth and in northern, cold-climate regions. This is a two-year residential fellowship, including one course taught in the second year with the fellow serving as the instructor of record. Fellows are expected to pursue research and collaborate on grant writing while fully participating in the department's and the college's intellectual life. Fellows receive an annual stipend, plus benefits and a research expense allocation (exact funding levels will be set at the time of offer).

Research Project Director, Dartmouth Health at Home

The Research Project Director leads the strategic execution and operations of the research portfolio that underpins three service arms of Dartmouth Health @ Home (Primary Care at Home, Palliative Care at Home, General Home Care). The role ensures rigorous study design, rapid‑cycle evaluation, and seamless integration of faculty expertise with operational teams. It also cultivates and manages relationships with internal and external partners, including researchers, the operations team, NH/VT Medicaid agencies, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, rural health transformation leaders, and donors, to generate evidence to inform sustainable payment and financing models for home-based care.

Dartmouth Health at Home is an emerging research and innovation program dedicated to designing, implementing, and evaluating sustainable home-based models of care that improve caregiver experience and patient outcomes. Building on Dartmouth’s national leadership in rural health, population health, and healthcare delivery innovation, this initiative addresses critical challenges in rural regions, including caregiver preparedness, workforce capacity, geographic distance, and socioeconomic and insurance heterogeneity.
