Cheri Mather, MD

Department of Medicine
I have worked as a general internist at the DH-Lyme clinic for the past 18 years. I have an active primary care practice and precept both Geisel students and primary care internal residents. I have a special interest in geriatrics and currently have a small amount of funding through the Geriatric Center of Excellence at Dartmouth. I have enjoyed being a facilitator for OnDoctoring for 10 years.
Some of my personal interests are being outside with my family and friends particularly hiking, cross country skiing and paddle boarding. I also especially like swimming in the crystal clear lakes of the North East Kingdom of Vermont. I try to find time for reading, gardening and puzzles, but I haven't been succeeding with that! For the past 5 years, I have been an active board member for the Norwich Historical Society.
Top Travel Destinations:
A recent trip hiking to the Dolomites in Italy this summer was a real highlight. Unbelievably beautiful scenery, incredible food and great friends - who could ask for more!
Can't Live Without Condiment:
I hate to admit it, but Mayonnaise - I grew up in the midwest after all.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Is there a superpower that would instill in our world leaders the compassion and empathy for fellow humans that we try to instill in our OnDoc students??
If you could go to the Olympics for any sport what would it be?
Nordic Skiing - but honestly, at this point I would just love being a spectator at the Winter Olympics and watch others compete, especially nordic ski racers who are amazing endurance athletes. I don't think I have wanted to go to the Olympics as an athlete since I was a young girl who wanted to be just like Olga Korbut in the 1976 Olympics or maybe
