Periannan Kuppusamy, PhD

Dr. Kuppusamy’s research interests include free radicals, oxygen, and oxygen biology in cardiovascular diseases and cancer. He is an expert in the development of methods for oxygen and free-radical imaging in biological systems.

Dr. Kuppusamy has published over 400 research publications in leading biomedical journals. He has received numerous awards including Silver Medal from the International EPR Society for significant contribution to the development of EPR imaging and Doctor of Medicine (honoris causa) from University of Pecs (Pecs, Hungary) for cardiovascular research.

Dr. Kuppusamy has received continuous research funding from from AHA and NIH for over 25 years. Dr. Kuppusamy is currently funded by two major NCI/NIH awards to develop innovative probes and methods for measuring tumor oxygenation in cancer patients receiving radiation therapy
