QBS MS track : Health Data Science

My research interests are: Longitudinal time series data analysis of medical device data to enhance care delivery and quality of care by providing caregivers with greater visibility into their data, affording patients personalized medicine through data driven insights of their specific conditions. Harnessing the power of big data, my primary research interest is to drive tailored predictive analytics of patient deterioration events like sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, and shock.

Career track: Industry

My career goals are: To work in industry as a data scientist to work on solutions in clinical informatics or healthcare analytics.

I chose QBS because: Data Science varies greatly depending on the industry and a traditional program in data science would restrict my knowledge to programming, mathematics and computer science methods. I am keenly interested in health data science which requires more attention than most other industrial data being as it directly reflects the most intimate part of a person's life, their well-being. The QBS program combines Biostatistics, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Data Visualization and more to comprehensively understand the data, it’s limitations, structures and biases for greater statistical modeling and hypothesis testing.

Recreational Interests: Outside of the classroom I enjoy skiing, ice skating, hiking, dance and cooking occasionally.
