Flow Chart: Promotion Process

  1. Candidate is identified:
    • A senior faculty appointment (Associate Professor, Professor)
  2. Candidates need to contact departments with respect to requirements for preparing materials for the departmental promotions review
    • List of up to five suggested external reviewers including information about any professional relationship between the candidate and the reviewer, and the basis for their selection as individuals qualified to evaluate the candidate
    • Updated CV in Geisel format
  3. Department Chair solicits and receives at least three external reviewers per criteria outlined in APT Checklist
    • At least one should be from the list provided by the candidate
  4. Department Chair solicits and receives at least two letters from peer reviewers
  5. Departmental promotions committee reviews the portfolio as assembled and makes a recommendation to forward or not for APT Committee consideration
