Islamophobia Workshop

Workshop Description:
Understanding Islam and Addressing Islamophobia
This program is designed to help faculty and staff learn about Islam and Islamophobia, providing needed context to bridge divides and facilitate respectful discussion across differences. Goals of the workshop include learning the basic concepts of Islam, including misconceptions and complexities; becoming familiar with the definition and components of Islamophobia and how it operates today; and learning strategies to address Islamophobia.

Morning Workshop Description:
Introductory Workshop on Jewish Identity and Antisemitism
This professional development workshop for university and college administrators provides an overview of Jewish identity, the diversity of Jewish experience, historical and contemporary manifestations of antisemitism, and how to address antisemitism within the context of free speech and academic freedom. Participants will come away with an increased knowledge and awareness of antisemitism and their roles in fostering dialogue and creating an inclusive campus environment.

Afternoon Workshop Description:
Creating a Jewish-Inclusive Campus Environment: Reactive and Proactive Strategies to Address Antisemitism
Following up on the Introductory Workshop on Jewish Identity and Antisemitism, this session will guide participants to apply their earlier learnings to think about and plan what they can do to create a more inclusive environment for the campus Jewish community, reactively and proactively. Participants will develop response strategies for real-life scenarios and consider what they can do in their roles on campus to better support the Jewish community.
