We are excited to announce that the Early Career Women Faculty Leadership Development Seminar's application period will open in mid-February. The seminar’s curriculum will provide a foundation for modeling leadership behavior and will focus on critical skills and strategies to assist you as you prepare for professional advancement or promotion. Due to the content focus, applicants’ CVs must include or highlight activities demonstrating progress towards academic promotion and engagement in leadership roles.

Application Period/Process
The application period will remain open for exactly three weeks from the date applications open. Once closed, the AAMC will review applications to ensure all applicants meet the criteria for the target audience and the cohort consists of participants with a broad array of specialties and areas of focus in academic medicine, including both clinicians and basic science researchers who represent a variety of institutions from all regions of the country.

We also want to make you aware of some changes coming to the meeting and learning opportunity registration process. The AAMC is streamlining the way constituents access our system and will require all constituents to have an AAMC account with a username and password.

If you’ve never created an account, you’ll be asked to do so when registering for meetings and conferences. Your AAMC account is your personal key to a growing number of services, including:

  • More than 100 free webinars every year on a wide array of topics including AI in medical education, equity concerns in health care, and timely health policy updates.
  • Special pricing for faculty and staff at AAMC member institutions for publications like the new 2023 Faculty Salary Report.
  • Access to data and reports in the Medical School Profile System (MSPS) for individuals affiliated with AAMC member medical schools.

We encourage you to create an account now, to expedite your application process.

If you have any trouble accessing your account, please email memberservices@aamc.org for assistance or visit our Account Help page.

Application Criteria and Requirements
A letter of support will not be required as part of the application. However, a current curriculum vitae must still be submitted. As stated above, due to high demand, we are unable to accept registrants outside of the program’s target audience - women physicians and scientists with an appointment at an AAMC member school of medicine, with a minimum of two years of experience (July 2022) as an Assistant Professor.

As with previous application cycles, more than one applicant from an institution may apply; however, per the criteria described above, we will accept a limited number of applicants from each institution.

We strongly encourage you to consult with your Division Chief, Department Chair, or Dean about attending this program to ensure you have time and support to attend the entire seminar.
